Jennifer Garner Reveals Her Joke About Ben Affleck in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Was Not Approved by Her Ex-Husband
In a recent appearance on the podcast *Happy Sad Confused*, director Sean Levy offered details about the joke Jennifer Garner made about her ex-husband, Ben Affleck, in the film *Deadpool & Wolverine*.
The joke in question occurs during a scene in which Ryan Reynolds’ character expresses his condolences for the death of Electra’s love interest, played by Ben Affleck, to which Garner’s character responds with a nonchalant “it’s okay.”
Levy clarified that the joke was not “vetted” or approved by Ben Affleck. He explained that while there was constant communication with Affleck during the filming process, particularly regarding a tribute to various Marvel characters included in the final scenes, Garner’s joke was not part of that review.
“That was not, as far as I know, approved by Ben,” Levy said. “We definitely made it clear to Jen, as we did with everyone, and as Feige learned when he asked us, that on Deadpool, everything is on the table. We know that Deadpool doesn’t follow the more traditional approaches.”
This comment has caught the attention of Marvel fans, who have discussed the implication of the joke and its potential impact on the public relationship between Garner and Affleck.
The film, known for its irreverent style and bold humor, seems to have maintained its reputation for breaking molds and challenging conventions even in jokes aimed at public figures.
The joke, while light and part of Deadpool’s humorous style, reflects the franchise’s unique setting and focus on tackling issues and situations with a touch of irreverence.
