Both Fantasia and Iyanla claim that Oprah has systematically used her platform to benefit from the struggles and personal stories of Black artists without giving them the recognition or support they deserve.

They argue that Oprah’s team employs manipulative tactics to secure exclusive content and interviews from Black celebrities, often making promises of exposure and opportunities that are never fulfilled. Fantasia shared her experience of being promised significant opportunities by Oprah’s team, only to be left feeling betrayed and marginalized when those promises went unmet.

Additionally, both women allege that Oprah has a history of silencing those who speak out against her, using her immense influence in the media to suppress negative stories and maintain a carefully curated public image. This has left many Black celebrities feeling disillusioned and exploited.

Iyanla Vanzant, who has had a complicated history with Oprah, also spoke about her experiences, including a decade-long estrangement that stemmed from a misunderstanding about a television show offer. Despite her pivotal role in Oprah’s journey to fame, Iyanla faced significant professional and personal challenges, which she believes were exacerbated by her strained relationship with Oprah.

The revelations from Fantasia and Iyanla have led to calls for greater transparency and accountability in the entertainment industry, particularly regarding how Black artists are treated and represented.
